A little reading to begin with
A SAMPLE FROM CHAPTER ONEA factual record can help a reporting conversation, but time spent polishing it must not delay appropriate contact. If a payment was sent, an account secret disclosed or unauthorised access suspected, use the relevant authentic provider route promptly. An uncertain cause does not require certainty about the scammer's technology before you can report what happened.
Identify the immediate practical concern separately from the story used by the sender. A claimed family emergency and an actual transfer are different things. The relevant provider may need the actual event and current status rather than your theory about the caller. Use appropriate local emergency help for immediate danger, not a payment demand delivered through an unfamiliar contact.
Keep the first note minimal: ordinary event type, approximate time and relevant provider. This worksheet is not the place for full credentials or financial identifiers. A provider's authorised secure process may require information that should not be repeated in a general note or sent to a friend who is helping with writing.
Record the authentic contact made and the actual next instruction. The log can grow afterward if useful. Do not treat a report reference as assurance that a payment is reversed or an account is secure. The purpose is to support responsible communication while the relevant professional or organisation determines its own response.
