A little reading to begin with
A SAMPLE FROM CHAPTER ONEChoose one question the chart is intended to answer. A comparison between ordinary categories is different from change over time or a relationship between two measures. Write the question before accepting the AI's proposed visual. Otherwise an attractive output can quietly replace your purpose with a different story.
Identify the actual data version and what each relevant field means. Keep units, period and category definitions with the source. A filename such as latest does not establish current status or authority. If an owner or publisher controls the dataset, preserve that source relationship rather than treating a model's reconstructed table as the original.
Check what is authorised for the exercise and intended audience. Public availability, client permission and permission to upload to an AI service are different questions. Use invented material if the actual environment or rights are unclear. Do not send the full private dataset to ask the service whether it is sensitive.
Finish with a modest scope: one ordinary chart and a reviewable source. Keep missing values and specialist interpretation questions visible. The first goal is to know what the figure should represent, not to have the model produce the most persuasive possible result or fill every gap in the dataset.
