A SAMPLE FROM CHAPTER ONE

Retain the original practice response through the permitted route. It contains information that disappears when you replace it with the supplied answer. Note what you were asked, what you attempted and which resources were allowed. A later memory of the attempt may make your reasoning appear more orderly than it actually was.

Identify the item's status. It may be ungraded practice, a released assessment or material with restrictions on sharing and assistance. Confirm the actual course rules before copying it into a group or an external tool. This guide does not authorize access to unreleased questions or answer keys. Use an invented ordinary example if the real item cannot be used appropriately.

Record the conditions under which you attempted the task where they matter to the learning question. You might note that you had not yet studied a required concept or that an instruction was unclear. Keep the record factual and proportionate. Do not gather private health details or diagnose a cognitive cause based on one error.

Write what you expected your response to achieve. A short explanation of your initial reasoning helps locate where a mistaken assumption entered. If you cannot remember, say that instead of inventing a convincing account. The original response is a starting point for investigation, not an exhibit proving a permanent weakness. Preserve the original question as well as the response.
